I was born in the wrong era. Late 19th century art songs of the Post Romantic period of classical music history have a strong pull on me. Much of my composing is in this idiom. The music of Norway both folk and classical has shaped my style of writing. I am currently working with Norwegian soprano Bodil Victoria Arnesen on a recording project of my art songs inspired by the vocal works of Edvard Grieg. I am also working on a violin sonata that incorporates Cajun folk music idiom. |
